Porcelain is one of the most noble materials used to make crockery. It is extremely aesthetically pleasing, but requires appropriate care. Wondering how to care for your porcelain so that it lasts for years? Despite appearances, it is not difficult. We have prepared a guide that will make the daily care of your favourite cups and plates a pleasure - find out!
How do I store my porcelain dishes?
It's worth knowing that storing your porcelain safely is one of the essential steps to prolong its life. It is best to store your plates in a separate display case or a glass shelving unit, where you can further display them. When stacking dishes on top of each other, run napkins over them to avoid bruising. This is a particularly useful trick if you decide to hide your china wares in a kitchen cupboard, where they will always be close at hand. Remember that porcelain crockery catches dust and dirt easily, so it needs to be cleaned regularly and stored in a place where the risk of dust is reduced. Check for yourself the importance of proper storage.
How do I clean my porcelain plates properly?
Looking for advice on how to clean porcelain correctly? First of all, dishes made of this material are not recommended to be washed in the dishwasher, although some manufacturers provide for this possibility. The safest choice, however, is to wash by hand. We have a few tips for you:
1. line your sink with a rubber pad to minimise the risk of bruising.
2) Rinse dishes as soon as you've finished a meal, so you avoid drying out stains.
3) Use a mild detergent and remove larger stains with vinegar and water.
4. microfibre cloths are best for removing dust from porcelain.
5. wash the porcelain in warm, but not hot water.
6. if you don't want to use detergents, use baking soda or a mixture of salt and vinegar.
7. after washing, dry your dishes thoroughly by wiping them carefully.
Put our advice into practice and your porcelain will serve you for many years! Take care not to cause any damage. You can glue defects with a dedicated adhesive. If, on the other hand, you notice small scratches, it may actually be a deposit, which you can remove by immersing the dishes in hot milk.
