Soup tureens

What is a soup tureen?

A soup tureen is part of the tableware set, but it can also be purchased as a separate item. A tureen allows soup to be served at the table in an elegant and convenient way, so that family members or guests can ladle the desired amount of soup onto their own plates. Tureens are also a decorative element of the dining table.

Soup tureens sold separately are most often very classic and versatile, suiting any style. White porcelain and an oval shape, possibly with subtle fluting, work well.

What is a soup tureen made of?

Porcelain is an elegant, classic material that is perfect for festive lunches or dinners. Porcelain tureens are durable and resistant to high temperatures, but care should be taken to avoid mechanical damage.

Ceramic, on the other hand, is a material with high heat resistance, which makes it ideal for reheating soup in the oven or microwave.

Stainless steel is an exceptionally practical and durable material that is well suited to everyday use. However, a stainless steel tureen is less elegant.

We recommend above all classic porcelain tureens and ceramic tureens in universal white.

The most common tureen shapes

The most common tureen shapes are round, oval or rectangular. It depends on your personal preferences. Tureens with angular shapes will suit modern interiors. Remember that the capacity of a soup tureen is important; it should be matched to the number of people for whom you are preparing the meal.

When buying a soup tureen, it is worth checking the lid, the handles and the material it is made of.
