Hob scrapers

Cleaning an induction and ceramic hob – is it worth buying a hob scraper?

A hob scraper for ceramic and induction hobs is a tool that helps remove even the most stubborn dirt, including dried-on grease. It is a very effective hob cleaner.

How is a scraper for ceramic and induction hobs constructed?

A hob scraper is most often made of steel and resembles an ice scraper for car windscreens, only smaller. Our range also includes an induction hob scraper, also known as a ceramic hob blade, supplied with replaceable stainless steel blades and a rubber, non-slip, ergonomic handle. Thanks to this design, the scraper removes even the most difficult stains and dried-on grease effortlessly, and also ensures the hob will not be scratched.

What should you not do when cleaning an induction or ceramic hob?

When cleaning dirt from an induction or ceramic hob, you should absolutely never use steel wool or an abrasive sponge, as these can scratch the hob in an instant.

To avoid damaging the hob, you should avoid:

• scrubbing,

• using sponges with a rough surface, scouring pads and sharp scrubbers,

• using products with abrasive properties,

• using sharp tools.

If the dirt has had time to dry, it is best to use the scraper for cleaning induction hobs described here.

How do you use a hob scraper for kitchen hobs?

First, put on protective gloves and prepare your equipment for cleaning. Hold the scraper at an angle of 45 degrees to the ceramic or induction hob. This position ensures that you remove dirt quickly and effectively without damaging the hob itself. Remove the dirt gently; there is no need to press the scraper down or use great force.

The scraper for ceramic and induction hobs thoroughly removes dried-on stains and burnt-on, carbonised food residues.

In addition, the universal scraper for ceramic and induction hobs can also be used to clean windows, mirrors and other glass surfaces. A hob scraper for induction hobs is therefore a versatile and multi-purpose gadget.

How do you remove stains from a ceramic hob?

Light marks and smears can easily be removed with a damp cloth with a little washing-up liquid. Then wipe the whole surface with clean water and finish with a paper towel.

One of the basic tips for cleaning a ceramic hob is to make sure it is cold and has cooled down. Never scrape it under any circumstances; in general, a damp cloth and the gentle cleaner mentioned above are sufficient. A soft sponge or cloth (e.g. microfibre) can also be used for cleaning – this way scratches are avoided.

The best solution is therefore to clean grease and other dirt regularly and not let it dry on. If it does dry, use the dedicated scraper.

How do you clean an induction hob the home way?

Aside from special products available in shops, you can also use several proven home remedies.

The first method is to apply a special solution to dried-on dirt – preferably water mixed with a little vinegar.

Another home remedy is to use shaving foam. Squeeze a generous amount of shaving foam onto the induction hob, then spread the product and cover the hob with cling film. Press it down and leave for 10–15 minutes. After this time, remove the film and wipe off the remaining product with a cloth or paper towels. Finally, use a damp cloth and wipe the hob thoroughly. Shaving foam dissolves dirt and burnt-on residue very well, and the cling film prevents the product from drying out. Thanks to this trick, your induction hob will shine like new.

Another product designed to remove burnt-on stains and deposits from an induction or ceramic hob is a solution of hydrogen peroxide and bicarbonate of soda. Sprinkle the bicarbonate of soda onto the dirt and pour a small amount of hydrogen peroxide over it. Gently scrub the surface of the hob in circular motions with the resulting paste.

Simply prepare this product in a container, then apply it to the soiled surface and rub it in for a while with circular motions. Finally, rinse the surface with clean, lukewarm water.
